Although the Cinque Terre has become one of the most overcrowded tourists hotspots on the Italian Riviera, it has avoided modern development almost entirely. From the perspective of a designer, it one of the most breathtaking places I have ever been.
The Cinque Terre is a series of five villages, which are perched on rugged cliffs, with brightly coloured terraces cascading down towards the ocean. One of the most charming things about the area, is that it cannot be accessed by cars, with the main mode of transport being by water or by train or foot.
The combination of warm tones, contrasting against the bright sparkling ocean below is truly refreshing. Living in Australia we don't see bright exterior colours like this often so this daring, vibrant palette is truly inspirational.
