Royal Exchange Grind, London

Many of us can’t start the day off without a nice cup of coffee or tea, and what better way to do this than in the stunningly sophisticated and fresh interior of London’s Royal Exchange Grind. The area’s affluent clientele often frequent this light-filled and extremely chic establishment, designed by Melbourne-based design studio , and it’s really easy to see why…

Located within London’s iconic Royal Exchange, the elegant espresso and cocktail bar firstly catches your attention thanks to the giant 6-metre-high arched windows from the building’s neoclassical façade. The amount of light that flows through from the windows into the space is emphasized by all of the Carrara marble as well as the light rendered walls, allowing the light to bounce off every surface.

With such a minimalist colour palette, the emphasis is definitely on the textural details evident in the century-old herringbone timber floorboards. Even the marble tiles that line the walls mirror the pattern in the floorboards – a subtle design feature that really adds to the overall look and feel of the space. Sleek brass accents seen in the counter’s foot rails, display shelving and other scattered features along with the bold peacock-coloured stool cushions break up the bright whites and add to the refined elegant appeal the establishment has to offer.

This super suave establishment serves coffee and food during the day and reopens as a cocktail bar in the evenings, so it’s definitely the best place to start – and even end – your day.
