Reinventing Leather

Leather is a popular upholstery choice for sofas and chairs – it’s versatile, low maintenance and to put it simply, it looks good. It’s the perfect choice to add texture and fits in easily with busy family life with wear and tear. In fact, I think leather looks better with age as imperfections make an appearance.

I am seeing a new trend arise; leather is being reinvented in other areas of the home.

Decor in particular is a great way to introduce this natural material. Uocmas has a range of leather desk accessories for the sophisticated study or home office. Add interest with the Timothy Oulton Drake Briefcases styled in an open shelving unit or on a console.

Be creative with leather accents on lighting or edging on a beautiful mirror. Even pillows now come in patent leather styles for contemporary edge.

Adding leather to regular items in the home is simple with a few DIY design tips. Change standard metal handles on storage units to beautiful leather straps or hang floating shelves with ribbons of leather for a style statement.

Be inspired with some of my finds…
