Putty Hues

Shadow tones and purer whites are set to give way to green cast graphites. Putty hues are on trend.

2017 echoes this message but will see more depth to grey and cleaner monochrome palettes. Greys and urban hues become more sophisticated, drawing from architecture and urban design. High energy colour palettes have given way to a more tranquil and neutral that were once reserved for places like bedrooms. Think warm spa influenced colours.

Soft taupes, beiges and warm greys add ambience in a classic or contemporary interior. They pair perfectly with both warm or cool whites. Throw in a few darker shades like charcoal in the mix to add interest or keep a light palette for a dreamy, calming space. These hues are versatile but with impact. The new neutrals.

Clay-like colours are no longer about grunge, enhancing a clean, sophisticated and elegant scheme. In the home, larger pieces like dining chairs and bed frames are complemented with touches in accessories like bowls, vases, cushions and throws. I particularly love the application of putty hues in the kitchen. Taupe cabinets pair perfectly with brass hardware and crisp white marble or tiles.

We’ve seen the transition of warmer neutrals in fashion, so update your home to follow suit.
