The Pumphouse Point Hotel, Tasmania

Perched at the end of a 230 metre hydro flume atop Australia’s deepest lake is the .

The wilderness retreat has come onto my radar, transformed from a 1940s Hydro Station into a boutique hotel inside Tasmania’s area.

Set on the serene , the hotel is a culmination of 20 years of dreaming for Project Developer and member of the , Simon Currant. The entire design is a nod to the building’s industrial roots by award winning architectural firm .

An decommissioned pump is housed behind glass in the lobby and original bay windows have been renovated to become a dramatic focal point in each of the 18 guest suites.

Sounds like the perfect place to perch myself by the fire with a glass of wine this Autumn.
