William Sofield always gets it right. And this beautiful ski lodge in Aspen is no exception. has found the perfect balance between the traditional, contemporary, comfortable and sophisticated.
Extending the stone clad exterior through to the interior, the natural materials create a feeling of warmth and luxury. Sofield has eloquently layered different types of textured stone through the spaces, including Burma-teak marble in the master bathroom complemented by a burnished nickel freestanding bath, and the guest bathroom shimmering with Esmeralda onyx on the walls and vanity.
Panels of walnut and oak are also repeated throughout the lodge, harmonized by soft neutral upholstery, and clean contemporary furniture pieces.
You can see where this style of home could become very gaudy, yet it has been finished so meticulously and with such sensitivity. Instead they have produced an unpretentiously decadent, flawless space.
