The Marlton NYC

With a New York buying trip in the diary for later this year, I’m on the hunt for a new hotel to try.

On my list is The Marlton, with a rich literary past that transcends the original brick façade from the early 1900s. The work of hip hotelier Sean MacPherson in the heart of Greenwich Village, this boutique hotel packs cool elegance.

Charm reigns supreme and finishing details are not overlooked in the snug rooms that Manhattan has come to be known for.  A distinct Parisian flair is recognisable throughout the interiors. Weathered herringbone floors have been given new life and ornate moldings and lighting fixtures pay homage to the early 20th Century industrial designer Serge Mouille.

In May this year, Conde Nast Traveller named The Marlton the most exciting new hotel in Manhattan in their annual World’s Greatest Hotels issue.

I can see why. The lobby has a quaint living room feel and the bar looks both alluring and indulgent adjoining a grand fireplace lounge. The hotel has quickly become an after work hotspot for a polished New York crowd, where signature cocktails tribute the building’s past: Greenwich Gold, Dharma Bums and Bearcat Sour.

You may find just me at the bar in October.
