WASHED TIMBERS

Timber was featured en masse, both washed and simplified. A wonderfully constructed table from new Simply Solid range. This Belgium company displayed beautifully simple pieces with witty and whimsical ceramic sculptures – check out the spooky man with no body at dining table!

Washed timber paired with natural linens and steel detailing was strong at the fair. Yes we have all seen this before, but it appeared somewhat fresher this time.

’s flagship Parisian store was awash with their familiar timber pieces. Instead of all being grey washed as in the past, they were almost colourless and natural – naked.

REWORK OF FAMILIAR SHAPES

Several exhibitors showcased traditional furniture pieces that had been simplified and given a fresh identity. This traditional piece has been modernized and presented in a relaxed and casual way. The rough linen upholstery and loose skirt ensure an refreshing take.

A classic Baroque armchair has been modernized. Intricate detail has been left out, and a raw frame finish incorporated. Long gone is the highly polished finish.

display this wonderful informal take on a traditional deep buttoned piece. Note the simple pleat detail.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Stitching, wrapping, buckles, joins. Detail was everywhere.

Spanish company Sol and Luna featured every imaginable object covered in leather. The finish and quality of craftsman ship was reminiscent of saddlery techniques. Simplicity.
