Not shy of a new adventure (or a bold pattern here and there) stylist Sarah Ellison, of Real Living Mag, has launched a fresh, energetic new wallpaper collection.
Named ‘Light of Heart’, the range rides the wave of the wild wallpaper trend this season and sits perfectly in tune with Sydney Summer, channeling a bold new coastal vibe many will be itching to get their hands on.
Here, she speaks to Field Notes about the Project:
The designs are bold and exciting, what inspired the wallpaper collection?
The collection was inspired by beach-side living in the city. I wanted it to have a calmness, like the water, but still lots of energy. It’s exactly what I want in my home. I also wanted it to be different to what’s out there and really reflect my own style.
Can you tell us what was behind the colour choices?
Basically the colours are all my favourites at the moment. As I mainly work in an editorial forum there are a couple of choices like the pink and sea foam that I know would look fabulous in photos shoots! But then, I have also included the greys and blues which are more realistic for people’s homes.
Have you worked with Emily Ziz Studio before?
I work with Emily Ziz a lot, I think they have the best range of wallpapers and murals in Australia and are always so quick to get me what I need. They were my first choice when approaching surface design houses. The digital printing process Emma uses is also so great because you can basically have anything you want, in any colour very quickly. It can be scaled up or down and means you have room to move in different variations of the designs.
Will you look to expand the collection down the tracj?
Absolutely, I’ve been working on this one for quite a few months so I’m already thinking of ideas for the next one.
Do you have any of the designs in your own home?
Not yet! But I’m having a baby soon and plan to fill his room with the Blue zigzags design.
