Normally I focus on international trade fairs – as I generally buy direct from overseas and truth be told, Australian furniture and gift fairs are never quite on the money for me.
However, I dashed in last Friday to Furnitex in Melbourne for a quick ‘whip around’ and suddenly found myself with plenty to see, and not enough time to see it all. It seemed to me that Australia’s furniture wholesalers had put on their best dress.
This year, Furnitex was held in Melbourne and let’s face it, anything that combines design and manufacturing is always going to be done well by the Victorians.
As a quick retrospective, the highlights for me at Furnitex were the student furniture works, Designer Boys artworks, Armadillo flooring and Boyd Blue.
Below are a few shots I took while there, just to give those of you who missed out a taste of what’s coming out of Australia in furniture, design and homewares.
