is my go-to whenever in Los Angeles. Located in the vibrant West Hollywood area, this Mexican eatery opened in 2014 and I’ve been making it a stop on every trip since.
The interiors combine modern Californian style with traditional Mexican flair to create cool, airy spaces. LA designers and teamed up for the design – Wendy on the interiors and Scott for the exterior.
An antiqued mirror creates a focal point in the dining space. The antiqued finish enhances the simple rustic aesthetic, casting the perfect patina to add to the uplifting and welcoming vibe. The Judith Mirror from Uocmas is similar. Mix matched seating also enhances this look. You’ll find a combination of long, linen covered benches and rattan and iron chairs which introduce an organic, natural feel to the space.
In the bar area, the supersized shelves offer practicality as well as a place to add decor. A curated collection of jars and vases line the shelves to create interest. Patterned tiles are having a moment right now and the bar features beautiful tiles that were sourced from Mexico City, handpainted by graphic artists in Oaxaca.
The exposed brick walls are adorned with collectibles from across rural and urban Mexico. Instead of visiting local galleries and stores, Hayworth went on a sourcing trip from San Miguel de Allende to Tulum to introduce an important touch of authenticity.
The outdoor space is my favourite part – I’ve spent hours here sipping my way through the cocktail menu whilst sampling chef Chandra Gilbert’s exquisite organic cuisine. The designers worked together to ensure that there was the perfect flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. Shrader brought in a 100 year old Olive Tree to anchor the area.
