1890s Grandeur by Brendan Wong

On the cover of last month’s Belle magazine was an incredible project by . The interior designer is renowned for his luxury aesthetic, always producing ‘wow’ worthy interiors where opulence meets refinement.

“The client brief was maintain the original grandeur of this 1890’s home and introduce a convivial mix of warmth and contemporary elegance,” says Brendan.

“They wanted a design response to the classic architectural integrity that would welcome the continuing evolution of their children and strong interest in art collecting.”

He continues, “the strategy for decoration layers rich textures and keeps the base palette natural so the interior is visually interesting but still calm. The furnishings such as mohair velvet armchairs and brass detailed tables and lamps are grounded by the textural underpinning of hand knotted rugs.

He adds, “It’s a house where the furnishings are elegant yet comfortable and robust.”

“The large landscape painting by Alexander McKenzie in the dining room inspired the bold introduction of emerald green in the velvet dining chairs and the stunningly faceted foyer console. Green is then carried through in the living plants dotted throughout the home.”

There are even a few Uocmas pieces in the mix, including the Astor Carver Chair in Charcoal, Jonathan Adler Scalinatella Cocktail Table and Oly San Francisco Layla Occasional Chairs.
