Dreaming Of The Pink Palace

Ever since I was a little girl I would dream about going to The Beverly Hills Hotel. There was something about the hotel that just took my breath away. It could be the architecture, banana leaf walls, iconic entry sign or the stories of Hollywood entertainers causing chaos for the hotel staff but regardless, I have always loved it all.

Affectionally known as ‘The Pink Palace’, The Beverly Hills hotel was built in 1912 and quickly became a Los Angeles icon. The hotel is set on 12 acres of lush grounds and most of Beverly Hills was built around it.

Back in its hey day and somewhat still to this day, the Hotel is known as the place to been seen. In 1930 not to be out done, the hotel’s Director imported white sand from Arizona to create the infamous sand and pool club. Many celebrated actors ran the show when they were guest of the hotel with Marlene Dietrich forcing the hotel to remove its dress code policy of ‘no slacks for women’. The Polo Lounge was a favourite of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra (known as the Rat Pack). Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s wild love affair brought them to the famous hotel. Even royalty have graced the hotel with their presence.

Recently getting a facelift The Beverly Hills Hotel turned to to help renovate the famous Presidential Bungalows. The Bungalows combine modern and classic design fit for such an icon. The scheme captures a Mediterranean influence while still retaining the history of the hotel through a signature pink and green palette. You may think of bungalows are petite and cosy but fitting of The Pink Palace, these are 3500 square foot dream homes for most.

And for those wanting to skip the line at the Polo Lounge for breakfast never fear the Bungalows come with a fully outfitted kitchen and a dining room fit for a King… or Hollywood royalty.
